Local Anesthesia

For minor surgical or diagnostic procedures, we may use a local anesthetic to numb a specific area and keep your pet comfortable without the need for general anesthesia. A common example is during a biopsy, where a small tissue sample is taken for further examination. Local anesthetics work by temporarily blocking nerve signals in the targeted area, preventing pain during the procedure.

Depending on the procedure and your pet’s temperament, we may also administer a sedative or anxiolytic (anti-anxiety medication) to help them stay calm and relaxed. Throughout the entire process, a dedicated veterinary technician or assistant closely monitors your pet’s vital signs and comfort level, even during less invasive procedures. Their sole responsibility is to ensure your pet’s safety and well-being from start to finish.

If you have any questions or concerns about local anesthesia or the procedure your pet is scheduled for, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re here to ensure you feel confident and informed every step of the way.

The best care for your best friend!
