Orthopedic issues—particularly those involving the knees and hips—are some of the most common mobility problems we see in dogs, especially in active breeds or aging pets. One of the most frequent orthopedic injuries is a cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) tear, which is similar to an ACL injury in humans. This condition causes pain, instability, and lameness in the hind limb and typically requires surgical correction for the best long-term outcome.
The Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) is considered the gold standard surgical treatment for cruciate ligament injuries. It works by changing the biomechanics of the knee to stabilize the joint without needing to replace the ligament. TPLO has a high success rate, often restoring full mobility and reducing the risk of arthritis when followed by proper rehabilitation.
To provide the highest level of care, we work with board-certified veterinary surgeons who come directly to our hospital to perform advanced orthopedic procedures, including TPLO, fracture repairs, and other complex surgeries. These are outpatient procedures, meaning your pet goes home the same day and receives ongoing care and follow-up from our in-house medical team.
We understand that cost is a major concern when it comes to advanced surgery. A TPLO or similar orthopedic procedure performed by a board-certified surgeon typically costs around $5,000, which is 25–50% less than what most emergency or specialty hospitals charge, without sacrificing the quality or expertise of care.
That said, we also recognize that this level of investment may not be possible for every family. If surgery isn’t an option, we are committed to working with you on alternative pain management and mobility support plans that fit your pet’s needs and your lifestyle. We’ll never leave you without options or guidance.
We accept CareCredit and all major credit cards to help make this level of care more accessible.
If your pet is experiencing lameness, stiffness, or difficulty rising, please reach out to us. Our veterinarians will perform a thorough orthopedic evaluation and walk you through the treatment options that best support your pet’s long-term comfort and quality of life.
