Soft Tissue Surgery

Our clinic performs a wide range of soft tissue surgeries, which include any procedures not involving bones or joints. These surgeries can significantly improve your pet’s comfort, health, and quality of life—and in some cases, they can be lifesaving.

One of the most common procedures we perform is mass removal. Pets can develop lumps or bumps anywhere on the body, and while many are benign (noncancerous), some can be malignant (cancerous). Early removal allows for more effective treatment, especially if the mass turns out to be cancerous. We often recommend removal if the mass bothers your pet or you—regardless of whether it is cancerous. To help guide that decision, our doctors frequently perform fine needle aspirates (FNA), a minimally invasive test where a small sample of cells is collected from the mass and examined under a microscope. This can often provide insight into the nature of the mass before surgery.

Our veterinarians also perform a variety of eye surgeries, including cherry eye correction, eyelid mass removal, and procedures to address corneal damage or abnormal eyelashes that may be irritating the eye. These surgeries can relieve discomfort, prevent long-term complications, and preserve your pet’s vision.

We routinely perform other soft tissue procedures such as:

  • Cystotomies (surgical removal of bladder stones)
  • Unblocking cats with urinary obstructions
  • Ear hematoma repair and chronic ear procedures to help reduce infections
  • Abscess treatment and wound repair
  • Foxtail retrieval and draining tract management
  • Laceration repair and bite wounds
  • Various intra-abdominal surgeries including biopsies and mass removals

In addition to the wide range of procedures we perform in-house, we also work with a board-certified soft tissue surgeon who can come to our clinic for especially complex or advanced cases, allowing your pet to receive specialized care without having to travel to a referral hospital and for a significantly reduced cost.
